During the next several weeks we will all be shopping, visiting family and friends, and attending parties; therefore, it’s important to keep a few things in mind. Don’t leave valuables and packages in your vehicle in plain view; lock them in your trunk. Always lock the doors and windows of your vehicle. Remember thieves do not like to be seen or noticed. If possible, park where people come and go and where there is the best light possible after dark. This is the time of year vehicles are stolen due to people starting their engines and letting them run to warm up. Even if you lock your doors, this type of habit is a calling card to a car thief. Please don’t leave your vehicles unattended with the engine running especially in a garage, even with the door open, the carbon monoxide from the engine can kill you! Please keep your eyes and ears open and report anything suspicious. Know what is out of place in your neighborhoods and look out for one another. (Neighborhood Watch works)! Always use seatbelts and car seats for small children and infants. Make it a habit; it may save your life or that of a loved one, and it’s the law. Never drink alcohol and drive! If you are going to drink, always arrange for a designated driver, call a cab, or uber. Friends don’t let friends drive drunk, (take the keys.)! Driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) is defined as follows: if an person has physical control of a motor vehicle and has a blood alcohol level of .05 or greater. DUI laws apply to both stationary and moving vehicles, and to vehicles on public or private property. State law also prohibits open containers in or about a vehicle. Just having an open container of alcohol in or about a vehicle will result in an arrest. It is our goal to ensure the safety of all Millcreek residents and to prevent drunk drivers from harming others or themselves. Law enforcement has zero tolerance for drunk driving and will be aggressive in the enforcement of DUI laws! With this in mind I urge those who consume alcohol to take the appropriate precautionary measures. By observing the above guidelines tragedies can be prevented and lives can be saved. Your Police Department and I wish all of you a very safe and happy holiday season! If I can assist any of you or answer any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. DeBry 1580 East 3900 South Millcreek, Utah 84124 Office [PHONE REDACTED] Dispatch [PHONE REDACTED] Email [EMAIL REDACTED] A Message from the Executive Director of As the Director of Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District, I feel that it is important to keep residents informed about any potential issues that will impact waste and recycling services we provide. On Tuesday, November 26th, Salt Lake County Mayor, Ben McAdams announced that he plans to close the Salt Lake Valley Transfer Station January 1, 2018 as part of his 2018 budget. The announcement came as a surprise to me and our team since no notification was provided. We deliver over 91,000 tons of garbage generated by residents to that facility every year because it is the most efficient location to deliver garbage. Taking that amount of garbage to another location would drive up our costs significantly and require additional fee increases to you as our residents. With this information, and the fact that our board has adopted our 2018 budget that does not account for this huge change, the County Council has postponed the closure until July 1, 2018, which gives us time to prepare for a closure. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me for any questions, or concerns. You may also want to contact your respective County, City, or Metro Township officials to let them know about your concerns if the closure does happen.
