January 2025 Millcreek Together Code Update I 18.77 Animal Regulations Summary Sheet Chapter 18.77 Animal Regulations Summary A. Purpose. The purpose of this Chapter is to allow areas within Millcreek for animals, where appropriate. This Chapter is applicable to all zones throughout Millcreek and is in addition to the requirements as set forth in MKC Title 8. B. What Changed. o Set a flat number (10) on the amount of domestic fowl permitted. o Included a lot area minimum of ½ acre for horses and livestock. o Categorized animal uses as a conditional use in higher density zones. o Updated format consistent with other chapters. o New table and figure outlining regulations and restrictions. C. What Remained the Same. o The remaining regulations located in Title 8 stay the same. D. Rationale for Changes. The proposed changes stem from the need to balance community interests, promote sustainable living practices, and address evolving urban lifestyles. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in self-sufficiency, with many residents expressing a desire to raise chickens and other poultry for fresh eggs and sustainable food production.
