1 Job Announcement Marketing & Communications Coordinator Under the general direcƟon of the CommunicaƟons Director, the MarkeƟng & CommunicaƟons Coordinator performs various tasks and completes projects relaƟng to communicaƟons, public relaƟons, markeƟng, and brand awareness. Assists in promoƟng the City and its brand, operaƟons, and services to appropriate publics and acts a communicaƟons liaison for all City department and Mayor and City Council communicaƟon efforts. POSITION(S) SUPERVISED: This posiƟon has no supervisory responsibiliƟes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Promote City programs and faciliƟes to ensure public has informaƟon for parƟcipaƟon. 2. Serve as designated contact for media inquiries relaƟng to community service programs and events. 3. Prepare and distribute press releases to media contacts. 4. Work with City departments to recommend appropriate markeƟng techniques for programs and events; assure consistency and uniformity in voice and messaging to the public and media outlets. 5. Develop communicaƟon messages, markeƟng campaigns, and promoƟons to aƩract patrons. 6. Assist in organizing special events including community and cultural events, media events, press conferences, and ribbon‐cuƫng events. 7. Perform markeƟng research for special projects. 8. Maintain City’s social media plaƞorms and other communicaƟons with residents. 9. Manage City logo and graphic standards. 10. Manage and monitor City website for inaccuracies and content, report to appropriate contact, and follow up to see that correcƟons are done. AƩend occasional special events and perform InformaƟon Center duƟes as needed. 12. Perform other duƟes as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. EducaƟon and Experience: a. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major course work in public relaƟons, adverƟsing, graphic design, markeƟng, or mass communicaƟons or other closely related field; b. Two years’ experience in graphic design, markeƟng, public relaƟons, mass communicaƟons or related duƟes listed above. 2. Special QualificaƟons: a. Valid Utah Class D Driver’s License required. 3. Knowledge, Skills and AbiliƟes: a. Knowledge of public relaƟons and media relaƟons, computer soŌware including MicrosoŌ Office, graphic design, and social media channels. b. Considerable knowledge of modern office pracƟces and procedures; of grammar, spelling, and punctuaƟon; of modern filing systems related to alphabeƟcal and numeric files; telephone eƟqueƩe, various office machines, i.e., copy machine, etc. c. Ability to professionally obtain and communicate informaƟon to the public with tact and good judgment. d. Ability to communicate effecƟvely verbally and in wriƟng and to establish and maintain effecƟve working relaƟonships with employees, department heads, the media, and the public. e. Ability to prioriƟze tasks, work well under pressure and impending deadlines, relate well with a variety of persons under varying circumstances, and analyze situaƟons to make sound recommendaƟons and presentaƟons. f. Ability to perform the overall advanced funcƟons of the InformaƟon Center to include assisƟng the public, cashiering, responding properly to customer complaints, and direcƟng or answering incoming calls. g. Ability to work with the public and city staff in a busy and oŌen stressful environment with a professional and posiƟve approach; skill in the art of diplomacy and cooperaƟve problem solving. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with some travel to different sites. May be required to travel outside of City boundaries to aƩend meeƟngs, events, etc. 2. Physical: Primary funcƟons require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office seƫng; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of Ɵme; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and ---PAGE BREAK--- 3 twist; to liŌ, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repeƟƟve hand movement and fine coordinaƟon including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange informaƟon. 3. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correcƟon 4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correcƟon. 5.
