Meet performance standards established with the employee’s supervisor. 2. Develop and oversee events calendar and event planning milestones. 3. Manage development and distribution of print and online marketing materials for events. Organize and implement city event promotion in coordination with communications department. 4. Manage marketing and promotions of city events including preparing and distributing flyers, press releases, and brochures. 5. Oversee a successful Venture Out series of events held in various Millcreek venues, seek sponsorships, management marketing, media and other event operations. 6. Develop a program including marketing and promotion strategies, and hiring and training staff for the ice skate rental at the Millcreek Common ice ribbon. 7. Coordinate the maintenance of Millcreek Common including ice ribbon, water feature, pavers, and landscaping. 8. Manage rental contracts and recruit uses that align with City goals for the potential public market retail spaces and food truck stalls at Millcreek Common. 9. Utilize Millcreek Common to hold year-round activities and programs that involve city residents and visitors. 10. Develop business plan including budget for each event. Manage each event to stay within budget. 11. Develop Millcreek Common into a financially self-sustaining space through sponsorships, booth rentals, event tickets, and other methods. 12. Plan, organize, develop, schedule, evaluate, and oversee day to day operations of Millcreek Common. Millcreek, Utah’s newest city, is hiring a City Events Director to work under the direction of the Assistant City Manager. The Events Director will assist with supervising all city public events, including the Venture Out program, as well as act as the Executive Director of Millcreek Common. POSITION(S) SUPERVISED This position has no supervisory responsibilities in the beginning, however, is expected to build a staff to handle city events and Millcreek Common. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education and Experience: a. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, communications, or other closely related field. b. Three—Five (3-5) years experience of related experience including extensive public relations and public engagement experience. c. Prior experience working in or closely with local, state, or federal government is preferred. 2. Special Qualifications: a. Valid Utah Class D Driver’s License required. 3. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: a. Knowledge of business management practices and procedures. b. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across cultural differences with employees, businesses, community organizations, and the public. c. Ability to manage, plan, and implement projects, establish project boundaries, and evaluate project success. d. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) software programs. e. Knowledge of procedures and requirements of meeting planning and event business to insure good relationships with event planners and meeting professionals. f. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. g. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with lessees, user groups, their representatives, and the general public. h. Knowledge of budgeting, marketing, and branding concepts. i. Ability to navigate complex systems and identify key interventions to enhance engagement in community life and problem solving across various sectors in the community. j. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make proper decisions in handling incidents at all types of events. k. Ability to compile and maintain records for personnel scheduling and event scheduling. l. Ability to plan, service, and supervise a variety of events. m. Ability to anticipate equipment and other needs for individual events. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with some travel to different sites and may be required to travel outside City boundaries to attend meetings. 2. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. 3. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. 4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. 5.
