APPROVAL: 2-18-04 DATE: REVISED: 11-26-12 SUBJECT: BRUSH COLLECTION BACKGROUND: Curbside brush collection service is provided to residents as a convenience for the maintenance of their property. Service is not provided for land clearing activities, nor will brush be collected from commercial contractors. Pick-up on private property is prohibited, unless a Release of Liability Agreement is signed and on file with the Dept. of Public Works (attached). 1. Brush Collection Rules A. Limbs or branches must not exceed 6” in diameter. B. Remove all metal, roots and dirt. Remove from holiday trees all tree stands, lights, tinsel, garland, ornaments and plastic bags. C. Place brush at the curb in an orderly fashion with all butt ends pointing in the direction of traffic flow. Place brush to avoid conflicts with poles, mailboxes, parked cars, hydrants and other obstructions. D. Keep brush segregated from garbage and refuse. E. Residents may drop off brush, branches, limbs (up to 4” in diameter), wood chips, sawdust, grass clippings, leaves, plants, holiday trees, stumps (clean) and clean wood (not painted or treated) at the MRD compost site, 5211 CTH Q, seasonally from April 1 through November 30. Hours of operation for the MRD compost facility are available on the City’s web site. 2. Material that will not be Collected A. Brush trimmed by contractors. Contractors are responsible for removing material they cut. B. Refuse from any building, remodeling, roofing, construction or landscaping project. C. Animal waste. 3. Brush Collection Schedule A. Scheduled collection will be provided from April through October. B. Unscheduled collection will be provided in November or until prohibited by snow conditions. C. Holiday trees will be collected in January on an as-needed basis. If you live: Place your brush at curb by 7:00 AM on: West of Park St./N. Gammon Rd. & South of University Ave. 1st Monday of the month for collection that week East of Park St./N. Gammon Rd. & South of University Ave. 2nd Monday of the month for collection that week West of Allen Blvd. & North of University Ave. 3rd Monday of the month for collection that week East of Allen Blvd. & North of University Ave. 4th Monday of the month for collection that week NOTE: If Monday is a holiday, place brush at curb by 7:00 AM Tuesday morning.
