Middleton Recycling Center 4330 Parmenter St. (located next to the Middleton Municipal Operations Center) Phone: (608) 821-8390 (answered only during open hours) Saturdays: 8:00am – 12:00pm (year-round I closed major holiday weekends) Wednesdays: 5:00pm – 7:00pm (May through September) The Middleton Recycling Center is for use by City of Middleton residents to recycle items normally not meant for home recycling. Unless specified there is no charge to recycle accepted items listed below. For items that have a charge you can pay by cash, check or credit card. There is a 3.5% processing fee for all credit/debit card transactions. Recycling Center Rules: 1. Be prepared to show ID for proof of City of Middleton residency. 2. There is a limit of 3 cars inside the recycling center at one time. 3. No walk-ins allowed. 4. StaƯ cannot assist in unloading items from vehicles. 5. Please read and follow all posted signs and be patient and respectful of others. TV’s 28” to 59” TV’s 60” or larger CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor Flat screen monitor / All-in-one computers Microwave Window A/C, Dehumidifier, Water Cooler, Refrigerator (dorm size ONLY) Other electronics – computers (keyboards, towers, tablets), printers, cell phones, radios, coƯee makers, toasters, fans, vacuum cleaners (bags removed), hairdryers, lamps, wires, electric cords, etc. Not accepted – broken/disassembled electronics, rear projection TV’s, electric heaters with oil, CO detectors, thermostats, ballasts with PCBs, CFLs, fluorescent tubes, lightbulbs $20 $40 $50 $20 $10 $10 $30 Free ---PAGE BREAK--- Eyeglasses and Cases Any Kind Free Gas Powered Equipment Must be drained of gas/oil with spark plug disconnected – i.e. lawnmowers, weed trimmers, snowblowers Free Hard Plastics Must be 100% plastic, no metal, cloth or other materials – i.e. lawn furniture, play equipment, crates, buckets, nursery pots/trays, etc. Not accepted – fuel containers, PVC piping, coolers, and plastic mesh fencing Free Motor Oil & Filters (RESIDENTS ONLY – NO BUSINESSES) Must be contained in their original 1 or 5-quart sized containers with caps. City of Middleton residents may use the drop-oƯ located outside the recycling center and is available 24/7 – site is under continuous video surveillance. Not accepted – cooking oil, anti-freeze and other fluids, oil contained in Tupperware, plastic bags, collection pans, glass/steel jars or other miscellaneous containers Free Plastic Bags & Wrap Must be clean, dry and free of food residue – shopping bags, Ziplock bags, case wrap, produce bags, dry cleaning bags, newspaper bags, bread bags, air pillow packaging, paper product wrap, mailers, cereal bags, salt bags, bubble wrap, etc. Not accepted – shower curtains, non-transparent plastic bags (i.e. frozen food, fertilizer, pesticide, top soil, pet food) Free Printer and Toner Cartridges Leave in original packaging, if available Free Scrap Metal Must be at least 80% metal – any helium tanks must be emptied, safety disc punctured and labeled as empty. Not accepted – fuel containers Free Smoke Detectors Ionization type $10 each Styrofoam Must remove all tape, labels and grommets Not accepted - foam insulation board, Styrofoam with food containments Free Terracycle® Items Brita® brand products, Colgate® and any brand of oral care products Free Wood (Raw) Must be untreated, unpainted and non-engineered – i.e. pallets, plywood Not accepted – particle board, treated, painted, stained or engineered wood Free Freecycle: The Middleton Recycling center has a designated area for reusable items that are clean and in good condition. Items dropped oƯ must be recyclable or small enough to be easily disposed of in the trash if not taken. Please see staƯ before dropping oƯ items. Items are not inspected for safety and are taken at your own risk. Items NOT accepted (not a complete list): Broken or disassembled TV’s and CRT monitors; CO detectors; ballasts with PCB’s; electric heaters with oil; electric blankets; thermostats with mercury; alkaline, zinc, and button batteries; CFL’s, fluorescent tubes, and lightbulbs; treated, painted, stained, or engineered wood; propane cylinders and tanks; furniture; mattresses; windows or other glass items; child car seats; cardboard tubes and carboard packing materials; non-transparent plastic bags such as frozen food, fertilizer, pesticide bags and shower currtians; paint; antifreeze; cleaning products.
