Laborer Grade: Reports to: Supervisor or Group leader Classification: non-exempt Department: County Maintenance Date Approved: Open until filled Job Summary: This is an entry job or temporary position for new hires joining the County work force. Workers in the labor pool are assigned to operating and service departments to assist with extra work load, cover absences and vacations, and supplement crews required to meet unusual changes in the elements such as heat, cold, rain, etc. Essential Functions: Following satisfactory result on job interview, and entry substance abuse test, and a medical examination if required, a conditional job offer enables the employee to report to the labor pool supervisor for assignment. Perform property tending duties such.as grass cutting, yard repair, week elimination, shoveling, water mop-up, and other duties while awaiting an assignment. After training, this job will allow worker to use various machines and equipment to enhance and improve the job process. Additional Responsibilities May be assigned to any unskilled job available. After training, more skilled jobs such as painting or carpentry may be assigned. Other jobs as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for Job Performance: A valid driver's license if operating a motor vehicle. Should be punctual and ready for work shift on time. Be able to communicate and work with others in a team work process for job accomplishment. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: This work requires manual dexterity skills and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
