City Scene September 2017 Student artwork adds color, function to Bayview Trail A fun partnership between Marysville elementary schools and the city’s Public Works department resulted in these cheerful new trash cans now in place along Bayview Trail. Each elementary school has a custom can designed and painted by its students. Why not take a walk to see them all? The trail in east Marysville runs north to south between 84th Street NE (south of Marysville Getchell High School) and 64th Street NE/SR 528. September: Emergency Preparedness Month What would you do if basic services such as water, gas, electricity or telephones were cut off? Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. It can force you to evacuate your neighborhood or keep you confined in your home. The Puget Sound area is susceptible to wind and winter storms, chemical spills, floods, fires, earthquakes, mud slides, train derailment, tsunamis and terrorism. You, your family and your neighbors should be prepared to take care of yourselves for 10 days or more after a major disaster. The City of Marysville’s Emergency Management office offers tips and resources to help you get started. Examples include suggested lists of household disaster supplies and a “Do 1 Thing” plan for tasks so that by this time next year, you will be better prepared in the event of an emergency. Find more information at www.marysvillewa.gov/Preparedness. Summer construction = Marshall sidewalks Just in time for back to school, crews completed construction of new sidewalks to Marshall Elementary School. This Safe Routes to Schools project is just one of the 2017 transportation improvement projects funded by the voter-approved Transportation Benefit District.
