LIBERTY COUNTY MAGISTRATE COURT Liberty County Justice Center 201 South Main Street, Suite 2100 Hinesville, Georgia 31313 (912) 368-2063 DRESS CODE • No Hats / Head coverings inside the courtroom (except those worn for religious or medical purposes) • No Sunglasses (except those worn for medical purposes) • No Clothing depicting violence, sexual acts, profanity, or illegal drugs • No Tube or halter tops, plunging necklines, midriff tops • No Ripped or torn clothing • No Mini-skirts or shorts • No Baggy pants that fall below the waist • No Sleeveless shirts (can be worn with a jacket) • No Muscle shirts (usually worn as undergarments) COURTROOM ETIQUETTE • Always be prompt. • Throw away gum, food, and drinks before entering the courtroom. • Stand when the judge enters and leaves the courtroom. • Stand when you are speaking to the judge. • Speak clearly when you respond to the judge's questions. • Always address the judge as "Your Honor". • Do not argue the case in the opening statement. • Do not make personal attacks on opposing parties. • Never interrupt the judge. If you are unsure of what you heard, wait until the judge or other person speaking has finished talking before asking any questions. • Address your remarks to the Court, not to opposing party/counsel except when extended necessary courtesies, e.g., thank you. • Only approach the bench when instructed to do so. • Enter and leave the courtroom quietly, so you do not disturb others. • After the Court has ruled, do not continue to argue your case.
