City of Lewiston Finance Department Norman Beauparlant, Director of Budget/Purchasing 2012-035 Plow Cutting Edge June 27, 2012 Sir/Madam: Sealed bids will be received in the office of the Director of Budget/Purchasing on Thursday, July 19, 2012 until 2:00 p.m. at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud on the enclosed specifications for Plow Cutting Edge for the Public Works Department. The Finance Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any and all proposals. Please use the enclosed envelope or a clearly marked envelope with the bid name and number when submitting your bid. Only sealed bids will be accepted. Faxed bids will not be considered. The following is an estimate of cutting edge needs and specifications for the upcoming winter season. Material Composition of all Blades: • Composed of hot rolled C1074 steel • Flame hardened front and back to Rockwell C hardness of 57-67 to a depth of 1/8 inch. • These are minimum requirements. • Manufacturer’s specifications sheet showing composition and Rockwell hardness must be submitted with the bid proposal to be considered. Plow Blades: Plow blades will all have the standard bolt hole configuration as follows: • First hole being 3" from the end of the blade • Second 3" from the first hole • Then every 12" after that • Ending with the same 3" configuration on the other end of the blade • All holes will be 11/16 square holes countersunk to accept standard 5/8" plow bolts. Blade Sizes Amount Required 1" X 8" X 5' 60 1" X 8" X 6' 30 Grader Blades: Grader Blades will all have the standard bolt hole configuration as follows: • First hole being 3" from the end of the blade • Second 3" from the first hole • Then every 6" after that • Ending with the same 3" configuration at the other end of the blade • All holes will be 11/16 square holes countersunk to accept standard 5/8" plow bolts. If the bidder takes any exceptions he/she is to list them in detail on this sheet and not in separate correspondence; otherwise, strict compliance will be mandatory.
