The Finance Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any and all proposals. Please use the enclosed envelope or a clearly marked envelope with the bid name and number when submitting your bid. Only sealed bids will be accepted. Faxed bids will not be considered. Beauparlant Director of Budget/Purchasing NJB/syt ---PAGE BREAK--- CITY OF LEWISTON, MAINE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS PLANT MIXED COLD PATCH BID 2013-057 BID DATE: Tuesday, November 12, 2013 SPECIFICATIONS Detail specifications on the season’s requirements of Plant Mixed Cold Patch for a one year period beginning November 18, 2013. Last year’s approximate usage: 300 tons HIGH PERFORMANCE COLD PATCH MIX This material shall consist of crushed limestone or approved equal, complying with the requirements of ASTM C-136 for stone size #89 or #9 in the following manner: SIEVE SIZE - SQUARE OPENING PERCENTAGE BY WEIGHT PASSING 3/8" No. 4 No. 8 No. 16 No. 50 90-100 20-55 5-30 0-10 0-5 The bituminous material shall be Liquid Asphalt Blend. When prepared from a base asphalt stock either AC-10, AC-2000, AR-4000, 85-100 penetration or 120-150 penetration, and blended. The formula shall be in the 4.5 to 7.0 percent range for a job mix. COMPOSITION OF MIXTURE Modification in the graduation of the aggregate and for the amount of bitumen in the mix may be made to obtain optimum placing and finishing characteristics. However, these modifications shall be made only when approved or directed by the City Engineer and/or Director of Public Works. Any modification approved or directed will be made at no change in the unit prices stated in the proposal. NOTE: Alternate Proposals for Cold Patch Vendors with Cold Patch product available that does not meet the specifications above may submit alternate material bid. If proposals are subject to acceptance within specified time, it must be stated in proposal. Each proposal should be a specified period, as requested in specifications, however, the only acceptable price changes, shall be written notification of such effecting only order placed subsequent to receipt of notification. The City may set off any unpaid taxes, fees or other charges or other amounts owed by the contractor against the contract price, in full or partial satisfaction. If the bidder takes any exceptions he/she is to list them in detail on this sheet and not in separate correspondence; otherwise, strict compliance will be mandatory.
