Asst. Lewiston 513-3003 784-5647 [EMAIL REDACTED] Project Engineer: Jeff Beaule 1. Introductions 2. Overall scope Part I of bid: a. 600 LF 12” main – begin at Humane Society (no main there currently), connect to current 12” main at Hahnel Brothers – only trench restoration in this section. b. 400 LF 6” main – replace and stub off (abandon old pipe under tracks) (3 services in this section). Part II of bid: a. Road rehab from Main St. to the stop sign – rehab will go into the DOT rehab apron, but no DOT permits are required for it. City to supply all water materials 3. Sequence of Construction No temporary main. Install 12” main first to connect the gap and feed the rest of Strawberry before cutting the 6” pipe at Main St. Then install the 6” main and connect the 3 services. Abandon the pipe under the tracks. Need to coordinate with Dunkin Donuts and Androscoggin Home Health for access during work. Rehab: RR xing—Pan Am will reconstruct the crossing, taking 3-4 days. The road will be closed to traffic during this time so complete as much of the box cut as possible during this time. Box cut to go at least 15 feet from the tracks. If we can get closer to the tracks with the box cut ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 while Pan Am is on site, we will. If we cannot pave before Pan Am leaves the site, we will need a railroad flagger. Coordinate with Pan Am. The City will pay for a flagger if necessary. Pan Am will not have the materials for the crossing until late September. This contract will include removing the pavement between the tracks. If Pan Am is late with their work, an extension will be allowed for paving in the spring. No agreement or special insurance is needed with Pan Am – Jeff will double check this. When the road is closed for the railroad work, this contractor shall set up the detour to Northwood Rd. and all traffic control. Other than during the railroad work, one lane is to remain open with flaggers. Traffic to Dunkin Donuts and Androscoggin Home Care needs to be maintained during the closure and other times (contractor will need to communicate with the businesses). a. Services: Contractor to do all taps and replace services to property line. b. Testing: The Contractor is responsible for supplying chemicals, equipment and personnel for chlorinating, pressure testing, and delivering sample to lab. The City needs to be present to witness the pressure test. c. Questions There is a typo on page P-5 of the specs. Both amounts should read $500. Jeff will make this correction with the addendum that includes these minutes. If any of the meeting participants feel that the above is not an accurate representation of what was discussed at the meeting, they should contact Jeff Beaule, Project Engineer at 513-3003, Ext. 3416.
