NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CITY OF LEWISTON CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE 6:00 P.M. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2011 CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS LEWISTON CITY HALL, 27 PINE STREET The Charter Review Committee is undertaking a comprehensive review of the City of Lewiston’s Charter to recommend amendments to it that would improve the operation of City government. The Committee is interested in hearing comments and suggestions from the public on how the structure of City government might be improved. Among the issues that the Committee is exploring are: the powers and duties of the Mayor; staggered terms for elected officials; the length of terms and the current two-term limit on the Mayor; and a variety of other structural and operational issues. Background information on the Committee and its work and the City Charter can be found on the City’s web site at www.lewistonmaine.gov. All who are knowledgeable of or interested in Lewiston City Government are urged to attend and express their views.
