Update on Snow Removal in Lewiston Public Works is establishing a night crew to perform snow removal over the next few weeks beginning Wednesday night (2/26/14). The crew will be working 10‐hour shifts 4 nights per week for the next few weeks until snow removal is done in most of the downtown sections. Streets are identified on the below list, which will be posted for no parking prior to snow removal. Lisbon Street, Park Street, Pine Street, Ash Street, and Middle Street will likely be completed the next night on Thursday. Removal of these snow banks will improve safety, as it has become increasingly difficult to get through streets, and visibility at intersections has become an issue. Additionally, by removing the snow now, Public Works will also be removing much of the sand in the snow banks. This will be helpful when it comes time to sweep the sidewalks and streets, as well as do catch basin cleaning later this spring.
