Afternoon Storm Update – February 13, 2014 We have had about 2 inches of snow so far with the forecast showing another ~8 inches on the way. Plow Truck #33 “is down” and that truck is not available for plowing during this storm. We will back-fill with other units to cover the streets normally plowed by that unit. All units were sent out to begin plowing operations about 2:00 pm. We didn’t have enough on the ground to begin plowing until then. They will ensure the arterial and collector roads are hit first so folks getting out of work in the next few hours can get home safely. We do have one of our operators out, as his wife had surgery today and another who is out due to an injury he incurred several weeks ago. Our “B-Team” is understaffed, and we are adjusting the best we can. Because of the timing of this storm, sidewalks will likely not be addressed until tomorrow morning/near the end of the storm. As a reminder, we established a parking ban in the City beginning at 6:00 pm tonight and going until noon Friday. If it is still snowing hard in the morning (as forecasted), we may need to extend this to get the streets properly cleared. The weekend forecast has another 1-2 inches of snow on Saturday into Sunday. ---PAGE BREAK---
