Lewiston 513-3003 784-5647 [EMAIL REDACTED] Project Scope: Install 8’x8’ concrete box culverts (to prevent flooding) and raise road two feet. Rip rap and modular block walls will be used. This project is a DEP Permit by Rule – cannot begin before July 15, 2012 and must be done by October 1, 2012. Bid opening is Tuesday (specs said Thursday), June 12, 2012. The contractor is to do the fine grading and binder, to edge of road base, and the City will do the paving, including the shoulder. The City is reclaiming River Road, but it is unlikely that the timing will work to have the paving contractor go straight through the project area as well with reclaim and binder. The surface will be a 1 ½” overlay done by the City paving contractor. The road will need to be closed due to how deep the excavation is going to be. Ferry Rd., Cotton Rd., and Alfred Plourde Parkway can be used as detours. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 River Rd. Culvert Replacement Mandatory pre-bid meeting 6/4/12 Page 2 Section 10.1.1 Disposal of Surplus Material: excess pavement does not have to go to Gendron & Gendron, it can go to other approved sites. The contractor is to hire an independent company for compaction testing. High pressure gas line: There is a high pressure gas line that feeds off of Lewiston River Road, so communication with Unitil is imperative. Currently, there is 6” of clearance below the gas line. There is to be a guardrail on both sides of the project. The side with the gas line will need to be adjusted in the field so as not to interfere with the gas line. This is to be a dry install. An adjacent brook will need to be bypassed. No soil samples have been performed to date. If any of the meeting participants feel that the above is not an accurate representation of what was discussed at the meeting, they should contact Justin Early, Project Engineer at 513-3003, Ext. 3421.
