2/5/14 – 3:29 p.m. Storm Update From Lewiston Public Works We have had about 6-8 inches of snow, and the forecast calls for another 2 inches or so before the snow ends early this evening. The equipment has held up well, with only minor issues like belts and a cutting edge needing to be replaced. With the reduction in the intensity this afternoon, we were able to catch up a little better on the roads, but many of them remain snow covered, and we advise you drive carefully if you must go out. Speaking of equipment, the extra snow blower attachment for our sidewalk plows that the Council approved at its meeting two weeks ago arrived yesterday and was installed on one of our sidewalk plows! We will have three of them addressing sidewalks when that work begins later tonight. Again, a reminder of the parking ban tonight (6:00 pm until 6:00 am tomorrow), which will allow us to clean up streets by tomorrow morning.
