Director Department of Public Works February 22, 2012 Oak Street Separation Phase III Bid No. 2012-005 Bid Date: 3/8/12 ADDENDUM NO 1 Please make the following changes to the Specifications: 1. An asphalt escalator shall be applied to the payment for hot mix asphalt, according to the attached MDOT special provision, Section 108. MDOT Item numbers shall apply to the equivalent mix being used on the project. 2. Division 50.02- Pipe Materials: ADS SaniTite HP pipe shall be considered an equivalent pipe material on sanitary sewers and for the 48-inch and 42-inch storm drain. 42-inch storm drain shall remain under Item No. 18, and 48-inch storm drain shall remain under Item No. 19, whether SaniTite or RCP is used. The bidder shall indicate on the bid form which material they are choosing to use. For the purposes of backfill on the “Typical Trench Detail”, SaniTite HP shall be considered HDPE pipe. No material besides SaniTite HP or RCP shall be considered. The Contractor may choose to use either 13 foot or 20 foot pipe 3. Division 50.11- Manholes: If SaniTite HP pipe is used, the tee base manholes shall consist of the same pipe material prefabricated to the appropriate angle and encased in reinforced concrete (factory precast off-site). The design of the tee base structure and riser shall be completed jointly by ADS and the precast manufacturer to meet traffic loading requirements. A detailed submittal shall be supplied to the Engineer for approval before fabrication. Each end of the tee base shall have an integral bell or spigot for connection of the adjoining length of pipe. The top of the tee base shall have a shiplap joint cast to accept the 4’ dia. precast concrete barrel sections. Tee Base pay items shall remain under Item No. 23 and No. 24, whether RCP or SaniTite pipe is used. These pay items shall include design of the structure, precasting ---PAGE BREAK--- the base, barrel sections, cone and manhole frame/cover. Payment also includes excavation, installation, bedding and backfill as specified for manholes. The bidder shall indicate on the bid form whether RCP or SaniTite HP is being used. 4. Division 60.16- Sewer Services and Storm Drain Services Tee connections to SDR 35 PVC, ADS SaniTite HP and ADS N-12 ST IB shall be made using an Inserta Tee fitting. Holes for Inserta Tees shall be made using a hole saw in the recommended diameter for the fitting being used. They will be determined as follows: The quantity of hot mix asphalt for each pay item will be multiplied by the performance graded binder percentages given in the table below times the difference in price between the base price and the period price of asphalt cement. Adjustments will be made upward or downward, as prices increase or decrease. Base Price: The base price of performance graded binder to be used is the price per standard ton current with the bid opening date. This price is determined by using the average New England Selling Price (Excluding the Connecticut market area), as listed in the Asphalt Weekly Monitor. Period Price: The period price of performance graded binder will be determined by the Department by using the average New England Selling Price (Excluding the Connecticut market area), listed in the Asphalt Weekly Monitor current with the paving date. The maximum Period Price for paving after the adjusted Contract Completion Date will be the Period Price on the adjusted Contract Completion Date. 43
