Scope: The scope of this is three groups of work. The first is the Street Resurfacing portion. It contains shim and overlay work on Grove St from Pond Rd to Raymond St., College St from Sabattus St to Holland St is planned for cold planing, shim, and overlay. Planned for Goddard Rd is binder where the pavement is removed and a shim and overlay. Morris St and Olive St. are planned for a shim and overlay. The Street Rehabilitation Program has work on three streets. College St from Russell St to Little St is a full box cut by others. The repaving is for Base and Surface pavement as shown on the paving list. Old Greene Rd runs from North Temple St. to Garcelon St. The first section from Ann St to old Bloody Hill contains a partial box cut in one lane. This area will require binder flush with existing pavement. The remainder of the street is to be shim and overlay. The Pond Rd project starting at Golder Rd is planned to have the first approximate 800’ stripped curb to curb by others. The next 2060 feet is planned to be reclaimed by the City’s reclaim contract. The next 300 feet is a full box cut by others. This first section of approximately 3160 feet x 24’ will get binder and surface pavement. Most of the remainder of this project is planned for shim and overlay. 1. Page P-1 includes estimated quantities. 2. Item #4 – 200 tons does not pertain to any one specific job site 3. Item #5 – 100 tons does not pertain to any one specific job site 4. 500 tons by hand is a figure Wes developed going by his measurements at the various sites 5. Curb – Old Greene Road has some basins, will do without curb if possible. 6. Contract includes fine grading Pond Road just before paving 7. Item #10 – cold plane is for butt joints and driveways. ---PAGE BREAK--- Division 10 8. Item 10.05 This contract shall end 6/30/14. Most of the work will be completed this summer with some to be completed in the spring 2014 9. Item 10.10 The City uses an asphalt escalator that matches all DOT factors in the most recent MeDOT 108.4.1, except there is no minimum. 10. Page #10.7 – Is the current Paving List Grove St. – shim and overlay this year College St. – cold plane (Sabattus to Holland), shim and overlay. Someone else will lower manholes and gates. To be done this year Morris Ave. – expect this will be done in the spring as a storm drain has to go in first, and that will be installed late in the 2013 season. Goddard – to be done this year Olive – expect this will be done next spring with Morris. 11. Driveway prep. Street resurfacing streets: If the grade is close and driveway pavement serviceable, grind with skid steer and overlay. If the driveway is bad or does not match street, the Highway department will strip and grade, and then the paving Contractor will pave. 12. If the driveway is bad or does not match street, the Excavation Contractor will strip and grade, and then the paving Contractor will pave. 13. Trench paving covers projects that are being done by City crews. Ware St. to be done this year. Louise and Lucille will probably be done one this summer and one next spring. 14. Division 80 80.06 The Paving Contractor may retain all cold planed bituminous materials removed from the street by cold planing. 80.07 Traffic control, signage, flaggers – all to be done by contractor. Typically, in Lewiston, 2- 3 flaggers are needed at each site. 80.13 Modifications of Mixture – the City needs to know if any modifications are made and they must be to DOT approved designs. The use of warm mix is not currently approved on this project. 80.14 The Contractor shall be required to submit Me DOT approved job mix formulas for all mixes planned for use on the project. 80.18 Paving equipment and the plant need to be approved for DOT work. 80.25 The Contractor shall submit a quality control plan prior to the start of paving. 80.25 80.25 paragraph C lists the minimum required quality control testing and reporting guidelines.
