2/5/14 – 10:49 a.m. Storm Update From Lewiston Public Works The latest National Weather Service forecast predicts Lewiston will have a total of about 10 inches of snow from the current storm with snow ending between 9:00 and midnight tonight. At the moment, most of our equipment is up and out on the roads plowing or sanding. One sander is in the shop for a failed serpentine belt, and one plow just came in for a check engine light on the dash. Our sanders came in early this morning so their 16-hour limit will end early, so we are sending the “B-Team Sander” personnel home early to get some rest before returning at 9:00 tonight to relieve the “A-Team Sander” personnel. We are also sending our sidewalk plow operators home early to get some rest so they can begin their runs as soon as the major arterial routes are completely plowed early tonight. The plow operators came in at their normal time this morning and were on the road plowing by about 7:30. The “B-Team Plow” operators will be called back in at 11:00 tonight to finish cleaning up at the end of the storm. We expect to have everything completed before 6:00 am tomorrow. As a reminder, the parking ban was announced for 6:00 pm tonight until 6:00 am Thursday.
