The restoration added stability and diversity to the river system through the use of wood, rocks and vegetation. Large root wads were used along the stream banks to combat erosion and provide habitat for fish. These can be seen in the river along the trail. Leash law enforced on Greenbelt. Please clean up after your dog. ---PAGE BREAK--- #3 Optimist Park - W. Garfield St.  Large parking area, playground, dog park, picnic area and ADA access.  Easy access to fishing and rock steps that are perfect for getting right down to the rivers edge to look for minnows. #4 South end - Spruce Street  Beautiful pedestrian bridges and access to the Union Pacific loop south of the Interstate. #5 Commerce Drive  West Laramie entrance with great access to the south loop. The land surrounding the loop is private property. Please stay on the path. WELCOME to the Greenbelt Trail System! This 6 mile paved trail along the Laramie River provides many recreation opportunities in a variety of river and wetland ecosystems. Fed mostly from snowmelt from the Medicine Bow Mountains, the sparkling waters provide habitat for many species of animals, birds, fish and insects. As you enjoy the trail, keep an eye out for deer, beaver, chorus frogs, herons, red-winged blackbirds, hawks, brown trout, min- nows, dragonflies and butterflies. Information signs along the trail will help you identify the wildlife in the area. ~ Fishing is allowed along the Greenbelt Trail. A fishing license in required and can be obtained at several places in Laramie. These can be purchased at Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site. For more information call [PHONE REDACTED] . #1 North end - Curtis Street  Best accessed by bicycle or on foot.  Nice area for walking within large shady trees. #2 Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site  Parking is available along McCue street with a short walk through property.  Fishing is allowed with purchase of a State Park permit that is available at Caption describing picture or graphic.
