TRAFFIC COMMISSION December 12, 2013 STAFF REPORT REQUEST: Removal of the game day parking restriction along 22nd Street from Willett Drive to Armory Road LOCATION: 22nd Street from Willett Drive to Armory Road APPLICANT(S)/AGENT: University of Wyoming (Michael J. Samp, Chief of Police) OWNER: ROW (City of Laramie) PURPOSE: Remove the game day parking restriction along 22nd Street from Willett Drive to Armory Road PREPARED BY: Eric Jaap, Civil Engineer RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to postpone removing the game day parking restriction along 22nd Street from Willett Drive to Armory Road until a parking study can be completed by the University of Wyoming. BACKGROUND: Due to changes in the area, the applicant feels that the game day parking restriction is no longer needed along 22nd Street from Willett Drive to Armory Road. ADDITIONAL ANALYSIS: It is staff’s opinion that a detailed parking study needs to be completed before any changes can be made. The University of Wyoming has undergone many changes in the areas where the game day parking restriction exists. Both buildings and parking lots have been added and removed. Staff would like the study to encompass all areas where the game day parking restriction is designated. Staff needs a detailed analysis before we can support any changes. Providing an engineering study will help both the City and the University should a citizen question the parking. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Staff has received no public comments regarding this application. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of staff to postpone removing the game day parking restriction along 22nd Street from Willett Drive to Armory Road until a parking study can be completed by the University of Wyoming.
