Page 1 of 1 CITY OF LARAMIE DRIVING RECORD POLICY Effective Date: July 1, 2007 1.0 PURPOSE: The City of Laramie will verify that all employees, volunteers, and elected officials operating a motor vehicle in the course and scope of their duties are eligible for coverage by the City’s joint powers liability pool. 2.0 APPLICATION: All employees, volunteers, and elected officials of the City of Laramie. 2.1.1 This policy will be applied prospectively for employees, volunteers, and elected officials of the City of Laramie as of the effective date of the policy. 2.1.2 This policy will be applied retrospectively for employees, volunteers, or elected officials joining the City of Laramie after the effective date of the policy. 3.0 ISSUING ENTITY: City Manager 4.0 DEFINITIONS: 4.1.1 Motor vehicle is any motorized vehicle that enters a roadway. 4.1.2 Driving in the course and scope of duties includes operation of a motor vehicle that is an essential function of the job, volunteer position, or the business of elected officials. Driving in the course and scope of duties also includes incidental driving that is not an essential function of an employee, volunteer, or elected official, but which might occur upon occasion (such as mail delivery/pickup). 5.0 PROCEDURES: The City of Laramie will review motor vehicle records (MVR) of affected persons at least semiannually. 5.1.1 The City of Laramie will not permit affected persons with unacceptable driving history to operate a motor vehicle in the course and scope of their duties. 5.1.2 Affected persons with unacceptable driving history will be notified by Human Resources. 5.1.3 Affected persons with unacceptable driving history may be reassigned or terminated. 6.0 COMPLIANCE: City of Laramie policy complies with Unacceptable Driving Record Criteria established by the WY Association of Risk Management.
