TRAFFIC COMMISSION September 12, 2013 STAFF REPORT REQUEST: Specifically Reserved Handicap Parking Space LOCATION: 168 North 4th Street APPLICANT(S)/AGENT: Joan Vass OWNER: ROW (City of Laramie) PURPOSE: Install a specifically reserved handicap parking space at 168 North 4th Street PREPARED BY: Eric Jaap, Civil Engineer RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to approve placement of a specifically reserved handicap parking space for the license plate number WY 05-10307 at the location of 168 North 4th Street. BACKGROUND: The City has been sending out letters to residents that have handicap parking to see if they are still needed. This location was originally put in place for the husband of the applicant. Her husband has since passed away but the space is still needed due to applicant’s health issues. The applicant is applying so that the handicap may be updated into her name and information. ADDITIONAL ANALYSIS: City staff sees no issues with the placement of the specifically reserved handicap parking space. This is an owner occupied residence. A R7-8 sign will be used at this location along with the license plate number. A picture of the sign has been included in your packet. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Staff has received no public comments regarding this application. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of staff to approve placement of a specifically reserved handicap parking space for license plate number WY 05-10307 at the location 168 North 4th Street.
