TRAFFIC COMMISSION October 10, 2013 STAFF REPORT REQUEST: Eliminate Handicap Parking Spaces LOCATION: Various locations around the City of Laramie PURPOSE: Eliminate handicap parking spaces from various location in Laramie at the request of the applicant or family member PREPARED BY: Kathleen Wickersham, Traffic Commission Secretary and Clerk RECOMMENDED MOTION: Motion to approve the elimination of the handicap parking space and sign at the following locations: Applicant Location James Timm 853 North 4th Street Ellen M. Brown 754 North Pine Street Beatrice Herrera 904 South 2nd Street Paula J. Wilson-Cazier 200 Block of South 4th Street Shawn Pearson 1162 North 18th Street Michelle Denzer 901 South 17th Street Dianna Covington 203 South 9th Street #11 BACKGROUND: Staff has sent letters to residents that have in the past, requested and received a permanent handicap parking space approved through the Traffic Commission. The letters are a request for information to update our files, and to verification that the original applicant is still in need of the handicap parking space. The applicant or a family member has contacted staff and requested that the handicap parking space be eliminated. ADDITIONAL ANALYSIS: City staff sees no issues with the elimination of the handicap parking space. The signs will be removed, and the paint on the curb will need to wear off. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of staff to approve elimination of the handicap parking space at the locations listed above. ATTACHMENTS: None
