HOLIDAYS DATE: July 20, 2010 1.0 Purpose: This purpose of this policy is to provide additional details and refined criteria for the application of the designated City’s holiday schedule. 2.0 Application: Benefitted City of Laramie Employees 3.0 Issuing Entity: City Manager 4.0 Policy: 4.1 The City of Laramie has designated the following holidays: New Year’s Day President’s Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Veterans Day Thanksgiving Day Friday after Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day 4.2 All benefitted employees receive 1/5 th of their normal work week pay for each holiday. 4.3 Holidays are to be observed on the day of the holiday, or according to the following guidelines: 4.3.1 Benefitted employees whose regular working days are Monday through Friday are not required to work on the holiday or on the day on which holidays are observed, and; 4.3.1.1 City holidays that fall on a Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday, and City holidays that fall on a Sunday are observed on the following Monday. 4.3.2 Benefitted employees whose regular working days are other than Monday through Friday shall observe the holiday on the day of the holiday. 4.3.2.1 If a holiday occurs on an employee’s regularly scheduled day off, the employee receives 1/5 th of his/her normal work week hours of straight compensatory time to use on another date that is approved by the supervisor. 4.4 Employees who are called in to work on the day they are observing the holiday (12:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.) are paid at the overtime rate (if they meet the 40 hour work week requirement) for the number of hours worked on the holiday in addition to the regular holiday pay.
