Revised: 8/20/2014 Page 1 of 2 Tent Permit Application Procedures A permit is required from the City of Laramie Fire Department, Life Safety and Fire Prevention Division for a Tent or air supported structure in excess of 400 square feet (20'X20') or a canopy* in excess of 700 square feet (20'x35') in area. Permit Procedures 1. First you must apply for an LFD permit. Include the following: a. Plot plan of tent and surroundings b. Floor plan of tent interior c. Complete LFD permit application d. Provide copy of "Certificate of Flame Resistance" Important: Permit applications must be received 10 business days prior to the event for which they are being used. Applications received 3 business days or less prior to the event may not be processed and the permit maybe denied. 2. If there is any food being served and/or prepared using propane (LPG) or open flame methods (i.e. wood and/or charcoal BBQ), then additional LFD and Health Department permits may be required. Generally, propane and open flame cooking is not allowed inside a tent. 3. If the tent, canopy, or air-supported structure is heated, an additional inspection maybe required. Propane (LPG) powered heaters are not allowed inside the tent. All propane cylinders must be located on the exterior of the tent and properly secured and protected. Generally, a minimum 10 feet away from the tent. 4. All requirements designated by the Fire Marshal or his designee will be outlined in the permit and shall be strictly adhered to by the permit holder/responsible party. *Note: A canopy is a temporary structure, enclosure, or shelter constructed of fabric or pliable material supported in a manner other than by air or the contents it protects and is open, without sidewalls or drops, on 75 percent or more of the perimeter.
