Basement Finish Checklist submittal requirements Items required for Electronic Submittal – incomplete submittals will not be accepted ☐ Completed application including project description, electrical valuation included in total project valuation, new finished square footage ☐ Floor Plan showing layout of entire basement that includes dimensions, room labels and following ☐ Electrical outlets, smoke/CO detectors, lighting, exhaust fans ☐ Size of windows, location of egress windows, window wells with ladder ☐ Mechanical room that shows location of water heater, furnace, boilers ☐ Unfinished rooms, storage areas ☐ If widening existing windows to meet egress requirements a letter from an engineer will be required Design Information Codes: International Residential Code 2021 National Electrical Code 2023 International Energy Conservation Code 2021 Note: Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are required. Smoke alarms (SD) are required in new and existing bedrooms, halls and on each level. Carbon Monoxide detectors are required 15 feet from bedroom entrances. Note: Combustion air for the furnace and water heater must be maintained at all times. Appliances shall not be located in sleeping rooms, bathrooms, toilet rooms, storage closets or in a space that opens only into such rooms or spaces.
