Public Road, Lafayette, Colorado 80026 Email: [EMAIL REDACTED] Garage Sale Rules A permit is no longer required to hold a garage sale on your property but there are some requirements that you need to follow. 1. Advertising/Signs a. Maximum of two signs no larger than four square feet each may be placed on the property where the sale is held. b. A maximum of six signs no larger than two square feet each may be placed around Lafayette, however, NO signs may be placed on traffic- control devices (stop signs, signals, no-parking signs, etc.) or light poles. c. Signs may be posted 2 days prior to the sale and removed at the end of the last sale date, before the end of daylight. 2. No items purchased for resale or consignment may be sold. Only items collected over time by members of the residence may be sold. 3. No more than two sales may occur at the residences within a calendar year. 4. A sale may occur for a maximum of three days in a row 5. The hours of the sale shall be during daylight hours only. 6. Sales items may be displayed on private property only. Items cannot be placed on the sidewalk, curb, street or any other public right-of-way. 7. The Lafayette Police Department has the right to enter a property that shows evidence of a garage sale for the purposes of enforcement and inspection and may close the sale if it is in violation of the Lafayette Municipal Code.
