A n n e t t e T h u l l Creative. Diverse. Eclectic. My thought process behind this logo was to make a abstract representation of the center of Festival Plaza. I see Festival Plaza as the hub of Public and Simpson Roads. However, I wanted to also make it look like abstract mountains so the logo always keeps you guessing. The intersection of shapes also represents the community togetherness that we are striving for. An artistic representation of our Old Town, this feels both modern and creative to me. Choosing different colors can make this logo feel historic and old town or further reinforce the creative and eclectic nature of Lafayette. I like the idea of keeping the color of the logo intact rather than making it be neutral colors. I think this shows character if it can maintain its coloring. I see the shapes on this sign being created by using multi colored plex-glass that is semi-transparent, layered on top of one another. Plexi-glass will make a nice material for the light to play off of as the sun hits this sign at different times of the day. I believe a treatment like this further enforces the creative and eclectic nature of our town and may even function as a mini “sculpture” anchoring the boundaries of our town.
