City of Lafayette Community Housing Programs Preference Benefit Qualification Check: Can you or a member of your household answer yes to one or more of the following questions? If so, you may be qualified. I am a full-time employee working in Lafayette or for a business with its principal office located in Lafayette. I have been a resident of Lafayette for at least one year prior to applying to this program. I am a graduate of a high school located within the City of Lafayette. Instructions: Determine if you qualify for preference in Lafayette’s Community Housing Programs. (See Qualification Chart above) Complete and submit City of Lafayette Community Housing Program, Preference Application. The processing of your application may take at least two weeks from the time you submit a completed application. Once your application is processed you will be notified if you qualify. The City will issue you a Community Housing Preference Qualification Letter that will be valid for six months. Take the Community Housing Preference Qualification Letter and your mortgage pre- qualification letter from your lender with you when you make an offer on a Program Unit to show proof of qualification. (Definition of full-time: Employed for a minimum of 1,000 hours worked per calendar year, and who averages at least 25 hours of work per week, during ten (10) months of each year, or 22 hours of work per week, during eleven (11) months of each year and who intends to reside in the Community Housing Unit a minimum of nine months out of each year. Submit one of the following as proof: o Three previous months pay check stubs o Employer letter indicating member is employed in Lafayette. o Copy of pre-approval letter from a lender indicating place of employment of the person applying for preference. Resident for one year prior to applying to purchase a Community Housing Unit. Submit one of the following: o A copy of utility statement or lease indicating the name & address of the person applying for the preference. o Copy of pre-approval letter from a lender indicating place of residence of the person applying for preference. Graduate of a high school located with in the City of Lafayette. Submit the following: o Proof of graduation from a high school within the City of Lafayette (i.e. diploma or letter from school).
