Klickitat County Emergency Management 911/Dispatch 199 Industrial Way, Goldendale, WA 98620 Office [PHONE REDACTED] After hours non-emergency (509) 773-4545 Fax (509) 773-0362 [EMAIL REDACTED] For Immediate Release July 13, 2017 Hartland Fire Update: On Tuesday July 11, DNR provided 3 overhead, a strike team (5 engines) and a 10 person hand crew to continue to mop up the fire. High Prairie Fire provided a 4,000 gallon tender and one overhead to support fire crews with mop up. Throughout the day, fire crews gridded out the burned area and located several hot spots which were cooled and mopped up. No areas of smoke were visible by early evening as the crews left the area for a well-deserved good night’s rest. High Prairie Fire personnel continued to monitor the fire throughout the evening hours and located some additional hot spots. These hot spot areas were mopped up and monitored until late Tuesday evening. On Wednesday July 12, the DNR strike team returned and re-gridded the burned area for any remaining hot spots. During the day, two locations were identified and quickly mopped up. Midafternoon, DNR overhead was comfortable with mop up efforts and made the decision to remove the hose lays that were initially placed to fight the fire. The Hartland Fire will be in what DNR refers to as "patrol status". DNR will patrol the area for the next three days for any hot spots or smoke. If, after that time, no signs of fire are observed, DNR will call the fire "Out". Hartland Fire final acreage burned: 14 acres. On behalf of the High Prairie Fire Commissioners and department personnel, "Thank You" to all the local, state and federal agencies providing automatic and mutual aid during the incident. Your professionalism and assistance was greatly appreciated! Respectfully, Tim Darland, Chief Klickitat Co Fire Protection Dist. #14, High Prairie ---PAGE BREAK---
