TRANSFER STATION MINIMUM GATE FEE CHANGE Frequently Asked Questions Question: What is changing? Answer: The minimum gate fee is changing from $5.18 for loads 1 yard or less to a flat $7.00. There is no change for loads over 1 yard. For example, if you bring in a 2 yard load it will be $5.18/yd x 2 yards = $10.36…same as today. Question: Why is the minimum gate fee changing? Answer: The minimum gate fee has not changed since the transfer stations opened in 1991 – over 20 years. Vehicle maintenance costs, fuel and labor have all increased significantly. Question: Where is the new minimum gate fee occurring? Answer: The increased fee will only affect those customers that bring in 1 yard or less into the Goldendale, Dallesport, or BZ Corner Transfer Stations. It does not change any current residential or commercial pick up rates. Disposal at the landfill in Roosevelt is still free of charge. Question: When do the new minimum gate fees take effect? Answer: The new minimum gate fees will take effect on April 2, 2013 at all three transfer stations. Question: I bring in less than 1 yard maybe once, twice or three times a month. Is there a cheaper alternative I can evaluate? Answer: Yes. You may want to consider signing up for residential curbside service. Curbside rates are: Service Rate 1 CAN weekly $11.99 plus tax 2 CAN weekly $15.92 plus tax 3 CAN weekly $19.63 plus tax 4 CAN weekly $23.53 plus tax 5 CAN weekly $28.48 plus tax If you come to the transfer station at least twice or more a month with small loads it may very well be cheaper to have curbside service – and, it comes by your house weekly. You can also include free recycling pickup every other week. Evaluate your situation and see if curbside pickup is better for you. Alternatively, you could consolidate your loads and come to the transfer stations less frequently than you are today. Need more information?
