In-Home Service Aide Senior Services Page 1 of 2 KLICKITAT COUNTY, WASHINGTON POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: In-Home Service Aide EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 2012 REPORTS TO: Operations Manager PAY GRADE: 28, Step 1 $13.28 DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Senior Services FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt LOCATION: Goldendale and White Salmon POSITION STATUS: Casual BASIC JOB PURPOSE/FUNCTION: Provides in-home care to meet housekeeping and personal needs of the elderly and disabled according to agency policies and procedures and as authorized on client Assessment/Care Plan. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 1. Provides personal care for clients as needed including bathing, dressing, and similar kinds of assistance. Assists with injections, physical therapy, and daily medications as authorized on client work schedule. 2. Performs housekeeping and laundry services for assigned client; vacuums, dusts, washes dishes, etc. 3. Prepares food; shops for groceries, cooks, and stores food carefully according to client needs and preferences. 4. Provides transportation to medical appointments, shopping, etc. Runs errands as requested. 5. Provides companionship and communicates with client; maintains client confidentiality. 6. Informs supervisor of client absence from home, health changes, changes in informal support network, or is unable to meet client's schedule. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES: 1. Participates in program staff meetings, employee evaluations, and training sessions. 2. Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge of housekeeping and personal care tasks or capacity to learn such tasks. Acceptable standards of performance including the necessity to perform in a reliable, punctual, and flexible manner. Ability to observe client for changes in health status such as weakness, confusion, loss of appetite, etc. Respond to emergencies without direct supervision in accordance with agency policy. Work independently. Communicate effectively. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and the general public. Physically perform the essential functions of the job.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:  Previous experience in housekeeping and personal care is desirable.  Age 18 or older.  Ability to pass pre-hire background screening, drug screening and TB test. Aides may be subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening throughout employment ---PAGE BREAK--- In-Home Service Aide Senior Services Page 2 of 2 Licenses, Certificates, and Other Requirements Valid driver's license in state of residence. First Aid and CPR Certification Required to complete annual continuing education each year as specified in Washington Administrative Code. Participation in required Agency trainings Certified as a home care aide through WA state Department of Health (OR) meet exemption requirements as defined in WAC 246-980-070. WORKING CONDITIONS:  Duties are primarily performed in a client’s home and require providing transportation for clients. Employees may be required to lift in excess of 50 pounds when assisting clients. Employees may risk physical hazard due to client's poor housing conditions.
