Klickitat County is working to update the existing Shoreline Master Program What is a Shoreline Master Program? A Shoreline Master Program(SMP) is a locally prepared set of policies and regulations required by State law, that govern development in shoreline areas. SMPs are designed to: • Encourage appropriate shoreline development; • Promote public access to the shoreline; and • Provide environmental protection. County staff and the consultant team will be available to answer questions, provide information, and to receive input on the Shoreline Master Program update. The Open House is: an opportunity for County residents, as well as other interested citizens, to learn more about the SMP update process and provide comments regarding their views on shoreline uses, shoreline public access, and protection of shoreline resources.
