WEED ALERT Knotweed, Waterway Invader! Knotweed is a large, invasive perennial sometimes mistaken for bamboo. It can grow up to 15 ft. tall with over 2 ft. leaves. The reddish-brown stems are hollow with swollen joints. Plumes of white flowers emerge late summer and early fall. Scan here to report sighting If you see this invader please contact: www.oregoninvasiveshotline.org or call 1-866-INVADER Knotweed prefers streamside areas but can be found along roadways and other upland sites, even home landscapes. Plant fragments will readily re-sprout. A multi-year, multi-faceted approach to con- trol and monitoring are often the only effective way of stopping this invader. Flowers can be cut, bagged, and placed in the garbage before going to seed. Do not compost plant or root fragments.
