Klickitat County Emergency Management 911/Dispatch 199 Industrial Way, Goldendale, WA 98620 (509) 773-4545 Fax (509) 773-0362 Press Release Sunday July 9, 2017 @ 6:30 PM Dry Creek Fire: At approximately 11:30 PM on Friday, July 7, 2017 a fire was reported to Klickitat County 911 in the area of mile marker 15 on State Hwy 141 north of BZ Corners in Klickitat County. At approximately 2:00 AM Saturday the Washington Department of Natural Resources took management of the fire, making additional resources available. As of 5:00 PM Sunday the fire had burned approximately 350 acres. At 8:00 PM on Sunday July 9th a Type 2 All Hazards Incident Management Team will take command of the fire and will be working with resources from Department of Natural Resources, Forest Service and local fire districts to contain the fire. Hwy 141 is closed from BZ Corners at mile marker 12 north to Sunnyside Road at mile marker 21. A detour has been set up. For firefighter safety we are asking that the public avoid the area and use alternate travel routes for Hwy 141 north and southbound. The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office is going door to door advising of potential evacuations. A Level 1 Evacuation Notification is in effect for the residents north of Meyers Road and south of Pine Flat Road on both sides of State Highway 141. Three levels of evacuation are established. Level 1 evacuations are an advisory. Residents should be aware and monitor local media outlets for information. Residents with special needs, or those with pets or livestock, should take note and make preparations for relocating family members, pets, and livestock.
