OUTDOOR FIREPLACES  Outdoor fireplaces shall be permitted.  If accessory to a single family dwelling, they are under the provisions of Chapter 10 of the International Residential Code (IRC). o Minimum 10’ from other structures and 5’ from property lines. o Permit fee shall be based upon valuation of the project. o Minimum 12” frost cover if 400 s.f. or less. o If the applicant chooses to have no reinforcing, then Engineering shall be required. o Outdoor fireplaces are exempt from the requirement for tight fitting doors or outdoor combustion air.  If accessory to a nonresidential occupancy, they are under the provisions of chapter 21 of the International Building Code (IBC). o Setbacks would be based upon the occupancy of the existing structure, and would be determined at time of plan review. o Permit fee based upon the valuation of the project. o Frost cover and reinforcing requirements would be established and approved at time of plan review. o Outdoor fireplaces are exempt from the requirements for tight fitting doors or outdoor combustion air. o Sections 307 and 308 of the International Fire Code are applicable.  Contact the local fire department for specific requirements on burn bans as applicable.
