This laboratory is accredited by Ecology for analysis of all parameters included in this project. They also appear to be the closest commercial lab to the study area that is accredited for the analytes required for this project. Contact information for the laboratory is: North Creek Analytical 9405 SW Nimbus Avenue Beaverton, OR 97008-7132 (503) 906-9200 Fax: (503) 906-9210 Nitrate + nitrite as nitrogen was analyzed using EPA Method 353.2. TDS was analyzed using EPA Method 160.1. Analytical Data Quality Assurance Review for September, 2004 Sampling A quality assurance review of the laboratory’s analytical data packages was performed to ensure that the data were of suitable quality for their intended use. The samples were delivered to the lab in one sample delivery group including seventeen samples collected between September 28 and 30, 2004. The laboratory certificates of analysis are included at the end of this appendix. The quality assurance review included evaluation of sample custody, holding times, method blank analysis, laboratory control sample (blank spike) and matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate recoveries and precision. The results of the quality assurance review for the Fall 2004 sample data set are as follows: 1. Sample custody and holding times were acceptable. 2. The reporting limits for each analysis were at or below those specified in the QAPP (Aspect Consulting 2004). 3. No method blank contamination was detected. 4. Laboratory control sample (LCS) recoveries were within control limits. 5. Matrix spike (MS) and matrix spike duplicate (MSD) recoveries were within control limits. ---PAGE BREAK--- ASPECT CONSULTING A-2 FINAL PROJECT NO. 030009-003-01 JUNE 21, 2005 6. The relative percent differences (RPDs) for MS/MSD sample pairs were within control limits. 7. The field duplicate pair RPDs for nitrate and TDS were 3 percent and 0 percent, respectively. Because field duplicates represent both field and laboratory variability, EPA (2002) provides no required review criteria for determining comparability of field duplicate analyses. Based on the quality assurance review, the analytical data are determined to be of acceptable quality for their intended use. No data were rejected, therefore, the data set is 100 percent complete. Analytical Data Quality Assurance Review for March 21-22, 2005 Sampling A quality assurance review of the laboratory’s analytical data packages was performed to ensure that the data were of suitable quality for their intended use. The samples were delivered to the lab in one sample delivery group including seventeen samples collected between March 21 and 22, 2005. The laboratory certificates of analysis are included at the end of this appendix. The quality assurance review included evaluation of sample custody, holding times, method blank analysis, laboratory control sample (blank spike) and matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate recoveries and precision. The results of the quality assurance review for the Spring 2005 sample data set are as follow: 1. Sample custody and holding times were acceptable. 2. The reporting limits for each analysis were at or below those specified in the QAPP (Aspect Consulting, 2004). 3. No method blank contamination was detected. 4. Laboratory control sample (LCS) recoveries were within control limits. 5. Matrix spike (MS) and matrix spike duplicate (MSD) recoveries were within control limits. 6. The relative percent differences (RPDs) for MS/MSD sample pairs were within control limits. 7. The field duplicate pair RPDs for nitrate and TDS were 22 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively. Because field duplicates represent both field and laboratory variability, EPA (2002) provides no required review criteria for determining comparability of field duplicate analyses. Based on the quality assurance review, the analytical data are determined to be of acceptable quality for their intended use. No data were rejected; therefore the data set is 100 percent complete. ---PAGE BREAK--- 11720 North Creek Pkwy N, Suite 400, Bothell, WA 98011-8244 [PHONE REDACTED] fax [PHONE REDACTED] East 11115 Montgomery, Suite B, Spokane, WA 99206-4776 [PHONE REDACTED] fax [PHONE REDACTED] 9405 SW Nimbus Avenue, Beaverton, OR 97008-7132 [PHONE REDACTED] fax [PHONE REDACTED] 20332 Empire Avenue, Suite F-1, Bend, OR 97701-5711 [PHONE REDACTED] fax [PHONE REDACTED] 2000 W International Airport Road, Suite A-10, Anchorage, AK 99502-1119 [PHONE REDACTED] fax [PHONE REDACTED] Seattle Spokane Portland Bend Anchorage Steve Germiat Aspect Consulting LLC 811 First Ave., Suite 480 Seattle, WA 98104 RE: WRIA 31 Water Quality Enclosed are the results of analyses for samples received by the laboratory on 10/02/04 10:00. Sample contains high levels of reported analyte, non-target analyte, and/or matrix interference. - Laboratory Reporting Conventions: Sample results reported on a dry weight basis. Reporting Limits are corrected for %Solids when %Solids are <50%. dry - Analyte NOT DETECTED at or above the reporting limit (MDL or MRL, as appropriate). ND - NR / NA - Not Reported / Not Available wet - Sample results and reporting limits reported on a wet weight basis (as received). Analyte DETECTED at or above the Reporting Limit. Qualitative Analyses only. DET - METHOD DETECTION LIMIT. Reporting Level at, or above, the statistically derived limit based on 40CFR, Part 136, Appendix B. *MDLs are listed on the report only if the data has been evaluated below the MRL. Results between the MDL and MRL are reported as Estimated results. MDL* - METHOD REPORTING LIMIT. Reporting Level at, or above, the lowest level standard of the Calibration Table. MRL - Relative Percent Difference. (RPDs calculated using Results, not Percent Recoveries). RPD - Dil - Dilutions are calculated based on deviations from the standard dilution performed for an analysis, and may not represent the dilution found on the analytical raw data. Reporting limits Reporting limits (MDLs and MRLs) are adjusted based on variations in sample preparation amounts, analytical dilutions and percent solids, where applicable. - Mary A.
