Executive Law Enforcement Advisory Board Teaching Students Decision Making for Safe & Healthy Living since 1988 (KENNEWICK, WA;) – D.A.R.E. America has announced the appointment of Kennewick Police Chief Ken Hohenberg to the prestigious D.A.R.E. Executive Law Enforcement Advisory Committee. Chief Hohenberg’s relationship and passionate commitment to the D.A.R.E. program stretches over nearly 30 years to 1988, when he became the city’s first D.A.R.E. officer. “Chief Hohenberg’s support of the D.A.R.E. program and his positive impact on Kennewick’s young students has been unparalleled,” stated Frank Pegueros, President & CEO of D.A.R.E. America. Continuing his praise of Chief Hohenberg, Pegueros added, “His personal dedication and contribution to D.A.R.E.’s curricula was recognized when he received the 2010 DEA D.A.R.E. Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award. The Executive Law Enforcement Advisory Board consists of 16 highly respected law enforcement executives who provide critical insights and information to D.A.R.E America to help ensure that the program has the best trained D.A.R.E. Officers skilled with the highest level of drug, alcohol, tobacco and violence prevention curricula and classroom instructional techniques. D.A.R.E. classroom instruction is accomplished through collaborations and partnerships of Law Enforcement, Schools and Community. The Board promotes and provides positive venues for D.A.R.E. awareness, outreach and expansion. ---PAGE BREAK--- The Board consists of International, State, County and Community Law Enforcement Executives who actively administer D.A.R.E. programming in their agencies. The Board represents a geographic cross-section of the United States and the Regions of D.A.R.E. America. International Law Enforcement Executives are members of the Board representing their country and D.A.R.E. International. Finally, the Board represents a broad cross- section of professional executive law enforcement organizations critical to policing throughout the world Along with the other members of the board, Chief Hohenberg will provide continuous review and evaluation of the curricula; identify and advise on trends and their impact on youth, law enforcement agencies, schools and communities; focus on best and most current educational practices; be a presence, voice and ingredient in school violence prevention; and provide awareness and prevention regarding youth human trafficking.
