PET WASTE & WATER What’s the problem? Dog poop is a major contributor to water pollution. Dog poop contains bacteria and is high in nutrients. Nutrients and bacteria are harmful to aquatic life and water quality. Rain and melting show flows over yards, dog parks, down trails, etc. on its way to rivers and creeks. Water that enters a storm drain is not treated or cleaned before entering our rivers.
