Jefferson County Board of Commissioners is seeking to fill the position of Warden for the Jefferson County Correctional Institute Jefferson County, Georgia (pop. 16,930) is seeking experienced candidates for the position of warden. Jefferson County is located approximately 45 miles southwest of Augusta, Ga. The warden, as chief administrator, is responsible for directing, monitoring, and controlling the operation of the Jefferson County Correctional Institute, which has a maximum capacity of 140 inmates. This includes providing for the safe, legal and humane custody and care of inmates as well as the safety of correctional facility personnel.The warden directs the work of approximately 35 employees and ensures that they abide by all Jefferson County policy and procedures as well as Department of Corrections’ guidelines. In addition, the warden’s duties include the hiring, training, and evaluation of personnel. He/she is responsible for preparing a departmental budget and overseeing the maintenance of the facility among various other duties. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Criminal Justice or Behavioral Science is preferred. Candidates for warden should be P.O.S.T. Certified with a minimum of ten years successful leadership experience in the public safety field. The county will offer a market competitive salary commensurate with experience.
