JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION MAY 5, 2008 8:30 A.M. This work session was held to prepare agenda for regular meeting. Those present were as follows: William Rabun, Chairman, Gonice Davis, Vice-Chairman, Tommy New, Member, Sidney Norton, Member, Johnny Davis, Member, Mickey Moses, Co. Attorney, Paul Bryan, Co. Administrator, and Mary Lamb, Co. Clerk. Chairman Rabun called meeting to order. Commissioner New opened meeting with prayer. Commissioner New made a motion to adopt agenda. Commissioner Gonice Davis seconded with unanimous approval. Ms. Patricia Edwards gave a report on library. Three library board members terms expire June 30, 2008. The appointments will be made at the regular meeting. An appointment to the DEFACES board will be made at the regular meeting. Commissioner New made a motion to appoint Carl Wagster and Hayward Wells, Jr. to Region Six East Central Georgia EMS Council. Commissioner Norton seconded the motion. Voting in favor of motion Commissioners Rabun, New, Norton ad Gonice Davis. Voting against motion Commissioner Johnny Davis. Lease on two tractors and mowers will be on agenda for regular meeting. Commissioner Johnny Davis made a motion to purchase pick-up for road department and put on consent agenda. Commissioner Gonice Davis seconded with unanimous approval. Commissioner New made a motion to solicit bids on disaster debris cleanup and put on consent agenda. Commissioner Johnny Davis seconded with unanimous approval. Commissioner Johnny Davis made a motion to solicit bids on dump truck hauling and put on consent agenda. Commissioner Gonice Davis seconded with unanimous approval. Penalty for unreturned Ad Valorem Tax was discussed. It was decided the Board of Commissioners did not have the authority to waive the penalty. Commissioner Johnny Davis made a motion to approve budget amendments to distribute workers’ comp. premiums and put on consent agenda. Commissioner Gonice Davis seconded with unanimous approval. Commissioner Johnny Davis made a motion to amend agenda to add Matthews fire truck. Commissioner Gonice Davis seconded with unanimous approval. Commissioner Johnny Davis asked about the status of Matthews fire truck. Commissioner New stated that he was going to get Bob McDonel to take the truck back to the manufacturer to see if they can find the problem with the truck. County Administrator, Paul Bryan, gave a report. Commissioner Johnny Davis made a motion to adjourn.
