Jefferson County Board of Commissioners is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Warden for the Jefferson County Correctional Institute Jefferson County, Georgia (pop. 16,930) is seeking experienced candidates for the position of deputy warden. Jefferson County is located approximately 45 miles southwest of Augusta, GA. The deputy warden, as a principle administrator, is responsible helping to direct, monitor, and control the operation of the Jefferson County Correctional Institute, which has a maximum capacity of 140 inmates. This includes helping provide for the safe, legal and humane custody and care of inmates as well as the safety of correctional facility personnel. In the absence of the warden, the deputy warden directs the work of approximately 35 employees and ensures that they abide by all Jefferson County policy and procedures as well as Department of Corrections’ guidelines. In addition, the deputy warden’s duties include the training and evaluation of personnel. He/she is responsible for overseeing food service and the maintenance of the facility among various other duties. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, but not required. Degrees in Criminal Justice or Behavioral Science will be given added consideration. Candidates for deputy warden should be P.O.S.T. Certified with a minimum of ten years successful leadership experience in the public safety field.
