Taxing Body: These are all the taxing districts that receive your tax dollars. Current Rate: Each taxing body prepares a budget and a levy and then files them with the County Clerk. The levy is their request for revenues needed based on their budget. The Clerk’s office calculates each district’s rate based on these levies. Current Tax: Current tax amount listed by district. This number is calculated by multiplying the current rate by the property’s net taxable value. Prior Rate: Previous year’s rate for comparison. Prior Tax: Previous year’s tax for comparison. Pension Amount: Of the current year tax amount for each district, this is the amount that is distributed to their pension fund. Difference: Increase or decrease in taxes from previous year to current year.
