McLean County Property Tax Bills Press Release for Thursday, April 25, 2013 The McLean County Treasurer &Tax Collector’s office has released the 2013 property tax bills. The office will be collecting on behalf of 200+ taxing districts this year. About 68,000 McLean County taxpayers will pay $294.4 million, which is up .37% from $293.3 million paid last year. McLean County’s final 2012 taxable EAV was $3.590 billion, down from $3.623 billion last year. Although the bill is being sent from the County, the County is not responsible for determining the full amount that property owners owe. The individual taxing districts within the county determine the total amount of taxes that are needed. The county clerk’s office receives each district’s board adopted levy and calculates them against the taxable value for the district. That process determines the tax rate for each district listed on the bill. The County Treasurer then combines the information on the bill, collects the taxes, and distributes them to each district. McLean County’s first installment due date is June 3rd followed by the second installment due date of September 3rd. Payments that are not paid or postmarked by each installment due date will be assessed an interest penalty of 1 ½% per month. The delinquent tax sale is November 1st. We encourage taxpayers to explore the county’s website at www.mcleancountyil.gov/tax for their tax information. Taxpayers can enter their parcel number and review the property assessment, exemptions, tax rate, payment status, and payment options. They may also sign up for general email reminders about the upcoming due dates. The website can be especially informational to taxpayers who direct the tax bill to their bank for escrow payment. All information is available on the mailed tax bills. Taxpayers may contact the McLean County Treasurer’s office at [PHONE REDACTED] if they have questions about the payment of their taxes. Taxpayers may contact the County Supervisor of Assessments office at [PHONE REDACTED] if they have questions about exemptions or assessments.
