OPPORTUNITY IN GREENSBORO Job Tax Credits for Greensboro Businesses What is Greensboro’s Opportunity Zone? Greensboro’s Opportunity Zone designation allows for a job tax credit for businesses that create a minimum of two new jobs within the zone. The Zone includes most of downtown Greensboro as well as several outlying areas. A detailed map is available by request or online at: http://www.dca.ga.gov/OppZones Who is eligible for the job tax credits? Businesses that meet the following conditions are eligible for the job tax credits: 1. Be located within the designated opportunity zone. 2. Create two or more new full‐time (35 hours per week), permanent jobs. (not husband/wife) 3. Offer health insurance to its employees. (Employer must offer insurance but does not have to pay for it.) How much is the job tax credit? The job tax credit is $3,500 per eligible job. The credit may be claimed for five years as long as the job is maintained. How do I claim the credit? City staff will help you complete the Opportunity Zone Certification form to confirm that your business is located within the city’s designated Opportunity Zone. This certification is attached to the necessary tax forms. Your tax professional will confirm that the jobs created meet all applicable rules for claiming the credit and will submit forms IT‐WH and IT‐CA to the Georgia Department of Revenue.
