Mount Olive Road Dam Replacement Response to QuesƟons: March 7, 2024 1. Are you requesting a cost submission with the proposal on the February 21 deadline? There is no cost form or bid from in the package and cost is not listed as one of the evaluation criteria in section 7. Will the shortlisted firms be providing cost submission after this initial evaluation? There is no cost submission form or bid form at this time. Bailey Civil Group will coordinate with the county regarding this request. 2. Is this a request for proposal or more of a prequalification to bid? Request for proposal. 3. The scope of work references the need for Corps and EPD permits have these been obtained by the Owner or will it be the contractor’s responsibility? Gordon County will obtain the Corp of Engineer and EPD permit. 4. The scope of work references removal of the dam and construction of an impervious core however the road cross sections only show minimal shallowing of the slopes over the existing grade, is the entire dam being removed? If so, please provided a plan showing the limits of the excavation. The construction of the impervious core shall occur between stations: 1+00-4+50. See sheet C601 for impervious core detail. Excavation between stations 1+00-4+50 shall exclude the entire removal of the existing dam. The depth of the excavation for the impervious core shall extend down to the depth of the lower lake. 5. The section on the storm profiles page shows an impervious core at the new spillway pipe, will the excavation in this area be limited to the minimal amount needed to install the pipe or is the entire dam being removed and an impervious core being placed along the full length of the dam? If the entire dam is being removed, please provide a plan showing the limits of the excavation or undercutting. The entire existing dam is to be removed and the impervious core constructed between stations 1+00-4+50. The plan provides delineation of the limits of the proposed fill. 6. Is there a geotechnical report? Yes. See the Geotech Report attached with response. 7. What is the specification for the impervious core? The specifications for the impervious core are provided on sheet C301 and the geotechnical report. 8. Is there a borrow area for suitable fill and a disposal site for material from the existing dam for project provided by the Owner? If yes what is the location of the site? The county is working to provide a borrow area in the vicinity of the project site. That area has not yet been determined. We will follow up with additional information and a location once the borrow area has been identified. 9. If the dam is to be removed there is no way to quantify the amount of excavation with the current plans, please provide a plan with the limits and an assumed elevation of excavation or undercutting so that the quantity can be estimated. Additionally, as this is subject to change due to the condition of the material, please provided a unit price item for removal and replacement of earth that can be field measured as it cannot be quantified for bidding purposes. The bottom of excavation is located at an elevation of 736.00. The limits of the exaction shall be between cross sections 1+00+4+50. Using the top of road elevation and the bottom of excavation bottom, a earthwork quantity can be determined.
