Request for Proposal for Probate Public Defender Services Gordon County Board of Commissioners invites qualified attorneys or law firms to submit a proposal to provide public defender services to the Probate Court of Gordon County, Georgia. Services are to be provided in accordance with all applicable Georgia laws, and the ethical rules of the State Bar of Georgia. Scope of Work and Responsibilities The provider will serve as an independent contractor and be responsible for all aspects of indigent defense within the probate court’s jurisdiction, including: Being responsible to appear at each arraignment date, and/or trial dates on cases they are appointed to Represent indigent defendants in cases within Probate Courts jurisdiction. Provide timely , competent and dedicated legal representation at all stages of the probate court process; Maintain confidentiality and adherence to professional and ethical standards. Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for appointment as a public defender: Be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia Shall have no less than two years’ experience in the area of criminal defense. Submission Requirements Interested attorneys or firms should submit the following: A letter of interest, including a statement of qualifications and experience, bar membership status, years licensed and confirmation of good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
