1 BILL # 10 CITY OF FERNLEY ORDINANCE # 2001-0007 AN ORDINANCE SETTING SALARIES AND BENEFITS FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL IN THE CITY OF FERNLEY. The City Council of the City of Fernley, hereinafter referred to as “Council”, do ordain: Section 1. Pursuant to Assembly Bill 663, recently passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor on May 22, 2001, the Council is allowed to set the first salaries of the Mayor and Council. Section 2. Salaries. The salary for the Mayor shall be $700.00 per month and the salary for the Council shall be $600.00 per month, effective July 1, 2001. Section 3. Annual Increases. Hereafter, on the first day of each fiscal year (July 1st ) the salaries for the Mayor and the City Council shall be adjusted to include the annual cost of living adjustment set by the U.S. Consumer Price Index, CPI-U (all urban consumers), if any. Section 4. Benefits. The Mayor and Council shall be entitled to reimbursement for business mileage at the applicable federal rate, and reimbursement for reasonable expenses for travel, food, and lodging for approved meetings and conferences. Requests for reimbursement shall be submitted on approved City forms with appropriate documentation. Section 5. Effective Date. The effective date of this ordinance shall be retroactive to July 1, 2001. Section 6. Saving Clause. If any section, subsection, or sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid, such decision or decisions shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
